4. That Your Memorialist has been strongly recommended by His Excellency Sir Hercules Robinson, the Head of the local Medical Department, in a despatch to Your Lordship's Predecessor in Office, dated February 1868.
That Your Lordship's Memorialist begs to offer himself as a Candidate for the Office of Colonial Surgeon of Hong-Kong, which he is given to understand is about to become vacant by the resignation of Dr. Murray.
He therefore prays that Your Lordship will be pleased to appoint him to the vacancy.
For which act of kindness Your Lordship's Memorialist, as in duty bound, shall ever pray.
